I agree these are a MUST for a rack. Years ago, on my 1500, I had a very light backpacking tent and sleeping bag for a total well under 10 pounds. Heavy winds pushing against them caused the trunk lid to crack. A new trunk lid was a couple hundred bucks, these stars are only a few bucks. This time I made sure I installed them on my 1800.

A definite must have. As stated before, these should be included with the rack. DO NOT install rack without these.

Like the looks with the luggage rack plus the additional strength it adds to the trunk. But you definately need longer screws. I purchased them at the hardware store, but like others said, they should be included. That is the reason for the 4 stars.

Definately get these if you install a luggage rack. It will greatly increase the strength of the rack on the trunk lid and reduce the chances of cracking. Do, however, follow the weight recomendations if you use the rack.

A must have item with a trunk rack. Spreads out the weight so not so much preasure in a small area of the foots on the rack.

These washers look much nicer than the standard washers that come with the luggage rack. I think they will provide a more stable platform for the rack, too.
