This unit will NOT charge the newest (2008) generation of iPods. This adaptor is designed to charge through the 12V iPod connection (firewire) which Apple discontinued with the new iPod. The new iPods require 5V charging through a different pin on the connector (old iPods will also charge on the 5V line). This unit will function for audio, but your battery will need to be charged externally. In addition, if you use iJet remote, the battery on the iPod won't last more than a few hours. I contacted Electrical Connection with no resolution; hopefully they will make the change, but it will likely cost more.

Easy to intall. I keep my iPod in the fair pocket. Ran the power wire to the battery with a fish tape. Works great! And the iPod cable is black now.

Great product. Somewhat easy to install. Works great for the Iphone too. Just make sure you put the phone on "Airplane" mode. If you own the phone, you know why. Still leaves the power harness to use for other stuff.

Works just as advertised. Easy install and is a must to keep the I-Pod charged. If you are using or are planning to use an I-Pod this is necessary.

The IPOD connector is great. It was easy to install and the quality of output is great too. The best part is that it does keep you IPOD charged and there isn't any electrical buzz!
I mounted through my left fairing pocket and used double stick tape to attach the box up under the fairing. I also tied and loose knot and supported it with electrical tape to keep the cables from pulling too far through the pocket. The remainder of the wires I taped together and tucked back in the fairing.

Works great and install was straightforward. Only complaint is that the instructions referenced photos that I couldn't find. I used a 4 ft section of 1/4" poly tubing (like that used for water on a refrigerator) to push through the wire routing areas then pull the wires through. You get enough cable to put the iPod in the trunk, but I opted to put it in the lockable glove box. I use an iJet to control the iPod through the dock port with remote mounted in a convenient area. Now I don't have to remember to secure my iPod every time I stop.
EC should have used a direct-connect for the audio instead of going through the 1/8" audio jack, but they didn't. Hopefully they'll make that improvement in the next version.

Works great and the sound is great. I too like the long cable for the just in case kind of person wanting the iPod in other location. I opted for the left front pocket which I inserted some foam first then the iPod does not vibrate. The wires could be neater but I don't know how without everything being wireless - now there's an idea...

One more note: the product description says that this will not work with Nano's. However, it DOES work with the new Nano's that have the bottom docking port.

If you're serious about listening to your iPod on your 1800, this is a must-have. First, you get a cleaner signal through your docking port than through your earphone jack. Second, this baby keeps your iPod charged and ready to take with you once you reach your destination. The long connection cord even gives you the option of intalling your iPod in the trunk, if you so choose.
Now that the GLI is included, it's an even better value than when I bought mine!
