I didn't have any trouble installing the rack and I think it looks great. I bought it in July and have over 7,000 miles on my trike since then. It still looks good and haven't had any of the problems some other seem to have had. I have riden in rain and snow as well as 98 degree heat.

I agree with the fact that it is cheaply made. The machine tooling marks are visible under the thin coat of chrome. I guess, thats the price for being cheap - you get what you pay for. I don't agree with some of the comments made by the other guys - If you don't drill through the inner shell, you loose structural intergrity. Honda engineers did not put that thing there just to hide the wires. Kuruakyn says that the rack is good for 5 lbs - My boots weigh more than that! The rack should be good for that - times ten; The composite lid will crack under that kind of load though. I also got the risers for the rack - not a perfect fit either. Kuryakyn need to pay attention to the angles.... the rack's legs are angled as the lid also is - the bolt holes on the risers are straight (Duuuhh!). Had to angle drill the two rear risers, so they would sit square on the lid. BTW - the holes that I drilled, lined up perfectly to the rack. It is a beautiful rack once installed and a nice addition to my wing. If you do not get the risers, you will not get a good set of instructions. The riser's instructions are better written and also have pictures..... for those of you that have a hard time reading the instructions.

As noted by several reviewers, this is the best and greatest looking rack for the wing. That being said, the chrome job on mine is absolutely terrible. I've had mine about a year and one half. The chrome is flaking off. I've kept mine clean and polished. A friend has one and his did the same. He has had his sandblasted and painted black to match the color of his wing. For the price paid if this is what can be expected of Kuryakyn chrome parts, I'm not purchasing any more chrome products from Kuryakyn.

Nice light weight design but fabrication and chroming left a little to be desired. One leg was 1/16" shorter than the rest and there is noticeable chrome discolouration on two legs. (Extensions cover the discolouration fortunately) Recommend you spend the extra and get the 5/8" extensions.otherwise cleaning under it will prove to be a bear. This rack would not have cleared my spoiler without them. Also, if you have the extensions, it is much easier to mark and drill the holes in alignment. I taped the extensions on the legs and set it down on the masked areas where the legs sit. after centering it, I took a pencil and drew around the base of the extension and removed the rack. Using one of the extensions as a drill guide, I drilled through the outer and inner lid for the rear holes and through the outer only for the front. The bit did not wander and the alignment between the inner and outer lid was perfect. I also used two star washers with rubbers on the underside as backups for the bolts. This will help to reinforce the trunk lid against failure.Remember to use the rubbers with adhesive applied to space between the inner and outer lid!

Fantastic look and very sturdy. Take your time installing it and buy the risers if you have a spoiler.

Great product. Easy to install. I bought the risers for this rack & the Star Washers. If you use risers you DON'T NEED the star washers. Took about 1/2 hour to install. The risers had better instructions that the rack (it had pictures).

Excellent product, looks great. I'd recommend installing the risers with the rack so that you cal get under the rack for cleaning.

Rack has provided good service over past four years. First trip was from Oklahoma City, OK to Fairbanks, AK. The rack and matching bag worked great, and the bag (Also Kury) was, and remains adequately waterproof without the cover. Several trips inside Alaska in all kinds of weather has shown that this is a great product that is meant for the long haul. This past July, I made a run from Fairbanks to Penticton, British Columbia and back, and noticed that the rubber insert was coming off from the top down. A little squirt of silicon underneath and momentary pressure fixed the problem. This is a solid investment for the serious tourer.

Great looking rack! Had this installed about a year ago and have used many times. I never load more than about 10 pounds on the rack. I don't have the spoiler and don't plan on getting one, so I didn't get the risers. I think it looks better without them and I've had no problems with the trunk lid cracking or being able to clean underneath it.

Very nice rack for light weight gear. I added the larger star washers to spread out whatever I put on the plastic. Smooth install with good instructions. However, drilling your trunk makes you pucker... Tripple check your alignment and drill small pilot holes.

Looks great, a bit scarey but not difficult to install. If you have (or ever think you might have) a spoiler, buy the risers at the same time. Despite was is said in the risers purchase info, the hole locations are different and will require you to enlarge them if adding risers after the fact. I'm told by those that have had this for a while you should always cover the rack with a towel when carrying items on it. With all that shiney chrome it is vulnerable to scratching.

The rack looks great. The instruction were fairly detailed. When you consider what a replacement trunk lid would cost, if you messed up the holes, it was spooky installing it. A template for the holes would be a great idea.

First I love the rack, it looks great on the bike. I also added the extensions on to start with to make room for a spoiler when I decide to add it. The reason for the 4 stars is the installation instructions do not give you an idea of exact placement on the lid. Given the large holes you will be drilling it would have been nice to have a template or a measurement for location to start with. Quality looks great

I didn't want to get this and mess up my clean look but needed the room for upcoming 4500 road trip to Yellowstone and no can't imagine Fumanchu (my bike) without it. Love the way it finishes the back out. Looks nice at night with purple ultra violet lighting underneath it.

One of the best eye catching add ons. Very practical. Be sure to order the star washers and risers when you get the rack. Read the installation instructions from those who have left there advice in the previous reviews. Because of their advice I installed in 30 minutes. Not one problem-Thanks guys!

Adds a great look to the bike. Very sturdy. We've had a lot of compliments about it. Be sure and get the risers. Makes cleaning and waxing under the rack a breeze.

Instructions are insufficient. Raisers are highly recommended. No need to drill holes through inner lid as mentioned in the instructions. 2" long bolts do not fit rear stands and I replaced them with 1-3/4" bolts.

While it is a nice rack two things are apparent. First, the directions suck. Kuryakin has you drilling hols through the inner lid for the back feet. Not a good idea. Take the lid cover out particularly if you have the navigation antenna mounted under it as I do. To ensure you have enough room between the backrest and the rack so that you can clean and polish I would mount the rack a full half inch further back than recommended by Kuryakin. Second, buy the larg washer for under the legs. They will ad stability and carrying capacity without stressing the plastic trunk lid.
