Better off spending more money on a better fitting hitch. Doesn't align very well. Also removed support from under amp box and did not put back per instructions. Wonder if that's a mistake? This hitch is more trouble to install then worth.

2006 Wing. Do not attemp alone. Using help it was a 1 1/2 hour project. Be sure to download the updated instructions. No drilling with 2006 Wing. Loosen muffler - no need to drop. Getting the H-bar right takes a little hammer tap and use care putting the amp box back in place. Be sure to put the amp box brace back before putting the H-bar in. Questions email me.

I installed this hitch on my friends 2006. As everyone has said, the instructions are pretty crude. Took a couple of hours to install. Will take an hour now!! The hitch is solid he was happy pulling a trailer.

Sorry that I don't agree with most of my friends here but this is what I experienced.
#1. Obviously the directions are crap, we all know that.
#2. Last year on a different wing I bought the Kuryakyn hitch, yes for $100 more.. what I received was higher quality, better chrome and an easy bolt on assembly. Even those directions were crap but easy to figure out.
So now I have my less expensive hitch installed but only to find that the "H" assembly is on backwards so that the tensioning bolt will not fit. Perhaps the worst part of my install was the "H" assembly.. it was tight and certainly no room for adjustment.
So would I buy this again ? Almost but not for me, I choose the more expensive unit that fits my 05 wing better.
PS. Sure wish I would have found those nicer instructions ! UG !!

Received very quickly. Yeah, instructions leave a lot to be desired. I read instructions and printed CHOLAW's out. I took my time making sure fitment was right. Had a little trouble lining up the front right side bar to the saddlebag mount. Looks great, seems very strong. If I had to install a second one it could be done very quickly. Don't get psyched out by the negative comments regarding installation. Just take your time, don't force anything, be careful not to cross thread the bolts in the aluminum. I'm pleased with the product and installation.

The hitch looks fine, however on reading the installation instructions it states a Tongue weight limit of only 30 pounds. which I consider to be inadequate for a decent trailer.
The annoying thing is that this restriction is not mentioned in the product description.
I did not fit the hitch.

Kudos to CWOLAWfor his detailed instructions as this will take much longer without them. The photo's on the manufacturer's instructions are horrible and you are not able to see any detail. Your have to get the revised instructions from CWOLAW to make heads or tails of this. This install is about 2 hours (no beer breaks) and very solid. Am very pleased with the result.

Very easy to install. Start to finish it took about 2 hours. Good quality product. I bought the Cooler Rack also and it looks great. I can't wait to take our first trip!

Installed this morning. Took about 2-1/2 hours. I did not have the CWOLAW instructions, what ever that is. No problems once you lay the hitch out. Instructions are a joke, but common sense will take over and getter done. You will have to do some bang'in to get some holes to line up. No rattles and very solid. Also install EC trailer harness. Very easy.

Reading instructions from CWOLAW beforehand made things very clear before even starting. No problem with the hitch, easy install. The bike is what gave me problems all afternoon and evening! First time working on an 1800 (got it a week ago). Had to take off right saddle bag to get that plastic box at the back in place. The 1500 was so much easier to work on!
The hitch is a great deal but I'm not sure how I feel about the 1800 anymore.

Hitch works great was pretty easy to install. The instructions definetly stink, if you are fairly mechnicaly inclined like myself I dont think you will have a problem, but if not, sounds like the thing to do is to get CWOLAW's instructions. Hardest part for me was slipping the top part of the hitch under the cross bar, between the saddle bag and the bar. Other than that fully satisfied with this hitch, saved a lot of money!

I wished I had asked CWOLAW for his instructions, because this took me all day to install. However once I figured it out I was very happy with the result. Its a 5 star hitch with a 3 star instruction.

I emailed CWOLAW when I ordered the hitch. His instructions arrived and I had time to study them before the hitch arrived. I recieved the hitch yesterday and started installing last night. Finished this morning and towed my trailer for a few miles. It is hard to understand why a company would continue sending such poor instructions with a quality product. CWOLAW should receive a commision for his work on the instructions. Like all the other reviews, good product, lousy instructions.

I just put this hitch on my 2007 GL1800 Wing, and I emailed CWOLAW for his detailed instructions and photos of the step by step procedure to put the hitch on. Thanks CWOLAW. The instructions that come with the hitch are not good at all. The hitch is very strong and I pulled my trailer only a 100 miles so far, but it pulls great with this hitch. I will be goung to Americade in June and that will be a good test for it. Good product, bad instructions.

Instruction are SAD. I mean real SAD. First I couldn’t even see the pictures. They send you a copy of a copy of a copy. If you go to the manufacture’s website you can at least print off a legible copy. But still… even once you can read them it’s still not a walk in the park. I had to not only lower the mufflers (as in the instructions) I had to remove the saddlebag bolts to swing the bags slightly over to get the bar to attach. It’s a great product… better instructions would earn it “five stars”.

Great hitch simple to install. Well made instructions kind of vague but are not bad. I had to lower mufflers as per inntructions.
