Go for it, you have nothing to loose, and a top case cover to save...cheap insurance

I agree these are a MUST for a rack. Years ago, on my 1500, I had a very light backpacking tent and sleeping bag for a total well under 10 pounds. Heavy winds pushing against them caused the trunk lid to crack. A new trunk lid was a couple hundred bucks, these stars are only a few bucks.
This time I made sure I installed them on my 1800. |

A definite must have. As stated before, these should be included with the rack. DO NOT install rack without these.
