I didn't have any trouble installing the rack and I think it looks great. I bought it in July and have over 7,000 miles on my trike since then. It still looks good and haven't had any of the problems some other seem to have had. I have riden in rain and snow as well as 98 degree heat.

I agree with the fact that it is cheaply made. The machine tooling marks are visible under the thin coat of chrome. I guess, thats the price for being cheap - you get what you pay for. I don't agree with some of the comments made by the other guys - If you don't drill through the inner shell, you loose structural intergrity. Honda engineers did not put that thing there just to hide the wires. Kuruakyn says that the rack is good for 5 lbs - My boots weigh more than that!
The rack should be good for that - times ten; The composite lid will crack under that kind of load though. I also got the risers for the rack - not a perfect fit either. Kuryakyn need to pay attention to the angles....
the rack's legs are angled as the lid also is - the bolt holes on the risers are straight (Duuuhh!). Had to angle drill the two rear risers, so they would sit square on the lid. BTW - the holes that I drilled, lined up perfectly to the rack. It is a beautiful rack once installed and a nice addition to my wing. If you do not get the risers, you will not get a good set of instructions. The riser's instructions are better written and also have pictures..... for those of you that have a hard time reading the instructions.

As noted by several reviewers, this is the best and greatest looking rack for the wing. That being said, the chrome job on mine is absolutely terrible. I've had mine about a year and one half. The chrome is flaking off. I've kept mine clean and polished. A friend has one and his did the same. He has had his sandblasted and painted black to match the color of his wing. For the price paid if this is what can be expected of Kuryakyn chrome parts, I'm not purchasing any more chrome products from Kuryakyn.

Nice light weight design but fabrication and chroming left a little to be desired. One leg was 1/16" shorter than the rest and there is noticeable chrome discolouration on two legs. (Extensions cover the discolouration fortunately) Recommend you spend the extra and get the 5/8" extensions.otherwise cleaning under it will prove to be a bear. This rack would not have cleared my spoiler without them. Also, if you have the extensions, it is much easier to mark and drill the holes in alignment. I taped the extensions on the legs and set it down on the masked areas where the legs sit. after centering it, I took a pencil and drew around the base of the extension and removed the rack. Using one of the extensions as a drill guide, I drilled through the outer and inner lid for the rear holes and through the outer only for the front. The bit did not wander and the alignment between the inner and outer lid was perfect. I also used two star washers with rubbers on the underside as backups for the bolts. This will help to reinforce the trunk lid against failure.Remember to use the rubbers with adhesive applied to space between the inner and outer lid!
