The still aren't making the most popular Goldwing color that they ever sold... YELLOW!! As much as I would like to upgrade to the NAVI/COMFORT/AUDIO and AIRBAG bike... I guess I'll just have to stick with my 2001 YELLOW ABS Goldwing and put on another 100K on it!!

As long as Honda still uses those cheap ball bearings in the steering head, they can forget me as a customer. Honda's quality has slipped pretty badly in the last 7 years. Tire problems, insturment problems, CB problems, CD player problems, frame problems, and strightline wobble/handleing problems are keeping me away. For the money they charge there customers, there is no excuse for the cheap stuff they use. (My kids $150.00 handheld Midland CB set-up sounds better than Honda's $1000.00 piece of crap)! The CB should be standard on a top of the line touring bike anyway.

The Honda Goldwing Gl1800 is the best touring bike on the road! Until somebody else comes up with something better this is what we get!

The frame issue did upset me and my wife however we sent it back and they did there re-weld. "NO" problems! When you spend (27,000) Cdn you don't expect to have these issues!

I have had a Gold Wings 1100, 1500 SE and just recently bought a 2007 Gold Wing 1800. I had heard the 1800 was a light year ahead of the classic 1500. I sold the 1500 and purposely did not drive an 1800 until the 1500 sold. I have NOT been disappointed! This 1800 flies!! And there's no Harley on the road that could stay with it--and even though all my buddies own Harley's they respect my "Ride" because deep down they know these statements to be true. I could have purchased a Harley Ultra Classic with all the bells and whistles, but I thought: (1) do I want 2 cyclinders instead of 6? (2) Do I want air-cooled instead of water cooled? (3) Do I want a belt drive over a shaft drive? (4) Do I want to have to put high Octane gas in every fill up or regular unleaded? (5) Do I want a shorter maintenance schedule for oil changes/etc. than the longer Wings?
The answer my friends is NO! I want to ride my wing, not trailer it to location.
Who knows, if someone is disappointed with the Gold wing 1800's I'd like to knwo what motorcycle brand he is thinking is better for the money(actually regardless of money). By the way, what is the comparison money-wise to a Gold Wing 1800 and a Harley Ultra Classic?

I have never owned a Harley but all of our friends do.We rode to Biktoberfest from WV to Daytona last week along with two Harleys. We all made it there and back safe. Even though the temp was only 85f both air cooled machines experienced over heating problems, one w/shifting and one w/spark issues. No thanks our 05 wing was cool and smooth

Poor Tim must be having a bad day. Sure there have been some teathing problems with the 1800, like you would expect with any radical change in a bike such as the Wing. My wife and I have have had a 1200 and two 1500's previously however, and the ride and handling that the 1800 offers as a tourer has yet to be surpassed. Nothing even comes close to the 1800 package. Its in a class of its own - even at $40K AU - and even with the Escapade'Elite' on the back, its virtually the same bike. We test rode the top of the line BMW tourer before with purchsed the 1800 and we could not wait to get off it - noisy, uncomfortable, poor handling (even dangerous), and they are close to the same money as the Wing here in Oz. I will admit Honda could lift their game in the speaker dept. As for the other issues Tim raises, that has not been our experience with the 1800. Our suggestion to Tim would be, rather than concern yourself with what you do not like about the 1800, focus more on the larger majority of positives. Failing that mate, sell it and buy something far more inferior. I'd bet you would have your backside back on the Wing quicker than you could say Harley Davidson.

I'm not one who will say one brand of bike is better than the next, in fact, ALL makes have their good points.I've owned my 99 Harley Road King now for 8 years. I've put on nearly 60,000 miles and have hardly had to do a thing to it besides tires, oil changes etc. Obviously a GW is more powerful. With 4 more cylinders it better be. My wife and I can comfortably cruise down the interstate at 75 mph effortlessly, loaded with gear with NO overheating issues. I've had many bikes over the years, all of which were Japanese bikes, except my RK. I've had fun on all of em. Its just that the very first street bike I ever rode ( 32 years ago ) was a 1974 HD Superglide. I was 12 years old, and I've been hooked ever since. Whatever you ride, have fun, be safe, and respect your fellow bikers, regardeless of what make they ride.

Tim I hear you, yes HONDA has some problems with the GL1800 the bearings are a problem, but most of them can be corrected. When you spend 20k it should be perfect but what is ? The bike does shake around 35mph but there is hope! A member of SC chapter H of GWRRA told me he had the ball bearings replaced with roller bearings when he had maint done on the front forks. The shimmy was gone !
TIM GO BUY A WING, don't use that as an excuse anymore and learn to adapt. It's a great bike
