Thanks for this informative post, What I would like to see on the next 2010 Goldwing is a way to raise and lower the height of the passenger boards. My GL1500SE allowed my wife to adjust the height of her boards up or down, it was great for changing leg positions on long rides, or if passengers had short legs like my daughter. The GL1800 does not allow this, unless you buy aftermarket mount plates, you cannot adjust without taking out tools and re-positioning them to a different mounting hole. Hopefully Honda realizes passenger comfort is just as important as the rider when it comes to riding these Goldwings. Honda needs to realize that passengers come in all sizes, not one size fits all. A simple change like that would make a huge difference in passenger comfort.

I would like to see a hydraulic main stand that would make it easier to put the bike up like the BMW. Also maybe a hydraulic or electrically raised windshield. Or maybe an upgrade on the gps that is just inferior to after market gps's. Maybe one that is incorporated into the bike that might be removed for programming on your computer. How about changing the way the radiator fans come on. Reverse the fans so the air would blow toward the rear. I know it would be warm when at stop but why would you want it to blow toward the front of the bike doesn't make sense to me. Steve - Houston

Honda should offer the next 2010 Gold Wing in a factory Trike version just like Harley Davidson did this year. It would also be nice to see the transmission offered in both an automatic or shift version. That would surely attract more buyers, more options always result in more sales. As far as Gold Wing Trikes are concerned, there are aftermarket Trike conversions, but being non-stock, means finding someone to replace tires, brakes or anything else while on a long trips could possibly be a nightmare. That would never happen if it was offered as a factory kit. I'm surprised Honda was not the first motorcycle manufacturer to offer a factory Trike, instead Harley beath them to it. Hope they realize and offer things like that in 2010.

Although the 1800 is a vast improvement over the 1500 with handling and performance, I would like to see some 1500 'standard' items returned to this bike: rear spoiler light & rotor covers. Also as others have said, electric stand, and floorboards. Floorboards should be a 'no brainer' on any touring bike.

How about a wing with out the steering shake

I love my 2002 Gold Wing but as for the wish list:

1. Factory floorboards with heel/toe shift
2. LED indication of what gear is being used
3. Blue tooth for all audio functions -- eliminating connecting cables for both driver and passenger
4. Trike version
5. Automatic transmission
6. More lights standard -- such as fog lights, lights on side and back of saddlebags, side of engine, turn signals in mirrors, etc.
7. Factory carpeting inside saddlebags & baggage compartment
8. Standard rotor covers

Now I'll just start saving because I know all of these will come about shortly!

I would like to see the next Wing weight less then the current one! How about a nice 150-200 lb diet!

As the other readers have said I think the wing should come with fog lights standard, an electric windshield, choice of saddles which would help the smaller wing owners get both feet flat on the ground. Locking front pocket on the airbag version, built in compressor in case of a puncture and a battery charging gauge to insure your charging system is in order.

I agree with several others. Auto trans option, cool idea. I would buy one! Floor boards, hydraulic center stand, electric windshield. I am a 28 year vet of the automotive business and I have to say that TPMS is one of the greatest safety advances ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pain in the Bu?? for techs because customers are'nt smart enough to check tire pressure when the light comes on, but a great feature.

I would like to see future Wings with upgraded suspension, front and rear! Lets face it stock suspension and stock head bearings are the route to all steering shake problem(wobble),and tire wear.

I may suggest a bit higher gear ratio for highway crusing and better fuel ecconomy

A powered center stand would be nice but until then here is a sugestion. Adjust your preload to full before putting bike on center stand. I have found this to help a lot.

1. Six speed gearbox ( 5 speed is not enough in europe and could get more fuel economy)

Did a Europe tour recently to Austria Faakerzee everyone looked at the Goldwing more than the Harleys around. (Got a Harley too!)

I completely agree, rather than repeat what everyone said. I truly believe the Wing at this time, is the best touring ride out there. I do "wish" that Honda would come up with some really colorful paint schemes for the wings. Victory and Harley have some beautiful paint schemes, and I think that is the only thing I would change. I am one that loves COLOR!

I would like to see the new wing with the HID lighting with LED tail and marker lights. TPMS great idea. Bring back the factory installed CB if we spend $20+K on a bike why upt another $1000 into the communication. I am completely against the automatic tranny but I feel the same way about trucks, 6-speed gearbox the 1800 lacks no power why go biger? Power windshield would be great I love the one on the 1300 ST.

I would like to know if you could have a factory install of the XM package on my 08 with Navi.

To throw my two cents in:
- I'd opt for the six-speed transmission for better fuel economy. (It's not about power or speed, just lowering the rpms when cruising down the highway)
- An computer updateable GPS would also be well recieved.

Will the factory TPMS be available for installation on other models? If so, will it cost compared to other available models such as Doran?

The TPMS was a sound decision. I have a SmarTire, and love it.
In priority order I would like to see:

- Electric windshield (time to adjust to the 21st century)
- Gear indicator (have my own, love it too. BMW have had it for ages.)
- Power outlets on dash (Have installed lighter + BMW with 15A fuse. Perfect for heated clothing. The optional 3A in the left front compartment is ok for an Ipod, but not much else)
- Hydraulic center stand (BMW again).
- Bluetooth audio
- Xenon lights
- 6-speed gearbox
- More R1200RT-umph in the brakes.
- 4-valve engine (1800 or 2000)(21st century and all that)
- Do not know much about the Navi, but it must be top quality and you should be able to program it separately on a computer and as a separate unit.
- A good color selection is always nice. There should always be a black one for the purists, and an exciting selection for the rest of us. If the Bright Blue Metallic had not been available in 2005 I would probably not have bought mine.

A better suspension. You shouldn't have to pay an extra $3000 for a aftermarket suspension to get a good ride.

And a GPS that will tell you what town you are approaching.

-Larger 2000 cc engine,
Six speed gearbox to get revs down at hwy speeds,
-standard HID xenon lights

I agree with most of all things mentionned above. For me, what is realy more than "nice to have", is a good saddle which should be confortable for 8-10 hours ride in a day !

I would like the factory to stay in U.S.A

I suggest the following :

1. NIGHT VISION TECHNOLOGY like the one in Lexus, Cadillac and BMW (Pre-Collision System)2. Hydraulic main stand
3. Blue tooth for all audio and mobile functions
4. More metallic light colors rather than the dark! (Colorful paint)
5. Improve the CB rang, to reach 10 KM and more
6. USP port to upgrade the GPS at home
7. USB port for audio flash memory (mp3 player build in)
8. Xenon lights
9. LED indication of what gear is being used
10. Rear spoiler with light
11. 12 Volt Power Source For Cell Phone Charging, Radar Detectors …etc
12. Increase the size of the fuel tank

Regarding the transmission, I think its perfect and its better to be manual as it is rather than automatic, and it will be nice if the engine horsepower increase to 2000cc or more ;)

Six speed gear box, floorboards, in other words make this $20,000. plus bike look like one.

Being a proud owner of a Gold Wing makes what I have to say on the subject of what gadgets a Gold Wing should posess seem a bit odd; but this an opinion after all.

My Father raised me on the Gold Wing platform (pre-luggage/ fairing) and I have always enjoyed the direction that Honda has taken with their machines. That having been said; these are MOTORCYCLES, not CARS!!At some point we have to acknowledge this and thank Honda for not forgetting the roots of this model.

A motorcycle that relies on more than 2 wheels is NOT a motorcycle anymore. If you need all of those plastic shields to direct the wind away from yourself; buy a CAR!! More to the point, gadgets have nothing to do with the thrill of the ride.

The guys who designed this bike have taken the time to inspire sport handling characteristics, and infuse it with an engine that is second to none. She'll blaze a path down a straight-away that will leave you wondering if your wheels are still touching the pavement and she'll stick like glue to the road as you wind yourself through the switch-backs.

In summation I thank you for the posting of what is yet to come; but I think I'll just be damn glad for what I've got, throw my leg over the saddle and head out to some country roads for a taste of that freedom that a motorcycle affords us. Hope I see you out there.

The bike weight seems good. Heel/toe shifter with a floorboard is long overdue as is the gear indicator. I'm still riding a 2001 black wing and I love it. I still would love to see some of the GL1500 standard lights on the thing. It could be installed in a way that allowed the rider to change to different types if they wanted. Make a 2000CC with a 6 speed gear box. Fog lights needs to be standard. Good on the 2009 Xm radio, now make GPS standard. Turnsignals in the mirrors. An Amp and a voltage meter is due for this bike. I'm happy with the 1800 because I could never pick up or ride the 1500 because of the top heavyness. My wish is to be able to say Honda has high standards of safety and not to the depths of someone's personal finance. ABS can and has been a life saver. Why make someone have to buy multiple items they have no need or would ever use in order to buy ONE safety item . . . ABS? Oh, yeah, for more money, you get that along with heated seats . . one thing that doesn't get cold on me, heated hand grips is a good thing and GPS. When you travel like we do, you don't need a female voice trying to tell you can turn on a road that's not there but about 50 feet on the down side of the hill. Go figure. Other than than, I have throughly enjoyed the 2005 which doesn't have ABS or all that extra stuff. Not looking forward to a new bike.

Personally I would like Mother Honda to fix the items that are not quite right on the 1800
* the trunk and saddle bags have less USABLE space than the 1500. I could fit a full face helmet in either saddle bag an 2 in the trunk. On the 1800, I can barely fit 1
* the built in GPS has less features than an aftermarket usit ( which cost less than half the price).
We need to be able to save a route ridden
we need to be able to program a route off the bike
we need to have the average speed, time, etc
easily upgradable
* Radiators that work between 15 -30 mph
reverse the fans above 15 mph until the airflow is enough to cool the engine
* Speedometer that is close to accurate
* Standard CB, CD changer, etc

Nice to have on a new model would be:
Power windshield
A way to control the mp3 player
more 12V power outlets

why dont we keep it simple? the machine works well! I do not think we should fool with "MOTHER NATURE"...sure a few more options does not hurt but....lets keep the machine!

As much as the cool add-ons appeal to me, the current Gold Wing is too expensive. Leave off the accessories to make the bike affordable. Then take a page from Harley's book and make it possible to add all the options individually. That way I can buy the bike and get just want I want. As the years go by, I can add more as I get the cash.

Now what should the "basic" bike have?
- ABS: it's a must-have safety item that cannot be added later.
- Good handling: a strong frame and solid front end required. Perhaps something stronger than telescopic forks.
- Reliable & Durable: Honda has this covered already.
- Ease of maintenance: make the plastic easy to remove. No more three-hour air filter changes.
- Good luggage: continue the ease of the single-key locking. Make sure the luggage is spacious. Add twelve volt outlets and lights.
- Offer a choice of windshield heights from short to tall. Some of us like to feel a little air.
- A RAM mount on the dash so we have a place to mount our own GPS.
- Support after the sale: don't tell us that an eight year-old bike is too old. Dealers in Northern Virginia refuse to work on old bikes even if you bought it from them!

My vision for the 2010 goldwing!
1. 2010 cc and 110 bhp.
2. Central hub steering (Like GTS yamaha version)
3. Larger fuel tank.
4. Fog lights as standard.
5. Hydralic screen.
6. Audiable indicators. (disarmable)
7. HID lighting.
8. Removable GPS for programming.
9. Footboards front and rear.
10. Trike option with automatic.
11. Custom colour schemes (individuals choice)
12. Cartridge or slot air filter replacement.
13. Gear and voltage indicators in dash.

Well, I hope these are some good ideas even though I don't even own one, just a GL 1500 SE for me. Maybe one day !!!!!!

Love this site. Also love my 2001 GL1800. We own two Harleys but must admit our vacation trips are always taken on the Wing. Love the power, love the handling and love the places that our Wing has taken us. To me, the bike is just as it needs to be and gives all of us the opportunity to customize it as we like. Sure, there could be improvements, but I enjoy making them myself. Honda is trying to hold down the cost and let us buy what we can afford and then spend what we want to improve it in any way. Just one question, why are they going to start making them in Japan in 2011? Will our plants close? I don't understand. Thank you Honda for giving us a ride that has been one of the highlights of our lives.

Just one more thing. I have an '07 Ultra Classic Harley with 6 speeds. It did not help the fuel economy at all. Our Goldwing will get comparable mileage with two up and pulling a trailer at Interstate highway speeds. Not sure a 6th gear is necessary for a Wing.

If I could make a wish list for the new 2010 Goldwing it would be as follows.

1. Improve the suspension front and rear. How can Honda justify having the king of the touring bikes with front suspension that rattles your teeth?

2. 6 speed transmission would be nice

3. More storage space

4. Accurate Speedo...(come on guys, how hard can it be)

5. Electric windshield.

6. Electric or Hydraulic center stand

7. Have Ipod pouch already wired.

8. CB should be standard equip.

9. Footboards and heal toe shifter should be standard equipment on the king of the tourers.


I love the 07 ABS version I have now but I do like some of the new options that are available on the 09 and think the above additions would be great for 2010!

I think that the tire pres. monitoring system will be great. Not so much the XM-radio with traffic up date (where I ride there's not that much traffic) G.P.S. should be updateable and have an altimeter and speed indicator as standard equip.6 speed trans. is a must! Got to lower those R.P.M.s. The two position suspention should have more of a difference between 0 and 25 when you make an adjustment you can't even feel a difference. If they don't come up with a trip computer at least have a trip ometer that goes more than 999.9 Kmh's (One to track of fuel & one to keep track of your total trip....say 9999.9Kmh's! All together a great ride! I am looking forward to many small inprovments for 2010, thats when I'm going to trade in the 06'

3) GPS should be able to be turned on via handlebar controls while in motion.
4) CB/FMRS/BlueTooth should be standard, not optional.
5) Windshield movement should be electric powered, NOT manual as it is today.
6) Seat should be high grade leather Not plastic. Consider using Corbin technology.

I have owned 9 Gold Wings over the years, starting in the 70's. Currently own a 2004 with ABS brakes. I agree with all of the iems pointed out so far, as improvements in future wings. Power windshield, power center stand, less weight,bigger engine, XM etc.

My biggest complaint, which unless changed will force me and a lot of gold wing riders, that I talk to. Is the postion you ride on a wing. It is like sitting in a chair, bent at the knees, with your feet back. After a few hours my knees are killing me. Yes, I am over 50 now and I need a bike where without stretching your legs around the engine and fixed fairing, to highway pegs. I could strech out, like you can on all V2 bikes. I realize, with the size and placement of the engine, kind of hard to work around this, unless there was a major change to whole bike.

One last item. Could be a modification or new product. A turn-signal that stops pulsing after the turn takes place, not before. This seems to me to be a bad design from the start.

I see alot of comments here about a six speed.Adding another ratio is not a guarantee of lower RPM's - could just mean less RPM drop between gears, or a stump puller first gear for those of you with trikes,sidecars and trailers that need to get moving from a stop. Lower RPM's might not be an advantage if they cause the engine to lug too much. Without getting into a very technical discussion the RPM's at road speed are easily (by the factory) adjusted through changes in the current gearbox ratios and/or the final drive ratio.
Please don't keep adding things, like the hydraulic center stand (no I can't get it on the center stand w/o help) or electric windshield adjustment (I mean really how many times do you need to adjust the windshield height) that increase the weight and add to the possibilty of something to go wrong - these things are heavy enough as is!!
And yes the CB ought to be standard!

Another option that would be sweet is a navi with weather radar overlayed on the roadmap.
Would be handy to navigate around storm cells on a long trip.

Well if everyone got what they wanted on their wish list, Rick and Wingstuff would be out of business, along with a lot of manufacturers that make our little toys. I'm still mad at Honda for not making ABS brakes a standard feature on these big touring machines. And to add insult to injury avoidance (ABS) you have to purchase the GPS which is basically featureless. Come on Honda, put in a decent GPS that we can program, we tour on your touring machines! And it's a no brainer that it should have a trip computer, you have them in your cars.

2.Higher quality GPS unit. Honda's choice is pretty old technology
3.Trip Computer
4.Voltmeter/Amp gauge. (nice to know if everything is working)
Why go with a larger "improved" engine. Like there is something wrong with the 1800cc? Leave the rest alone otherwise it will price itself off the market
Everyone can add what they want at later times when cash becomes available. Make the bike as safe as can be and leave it alone.

I own a 2005 wing. I would like to see in 2010
1. Automatic Transmission (Must have or I switch brands)
2. More low end torque (Harleys are always bragging about this one)
3. Gear indicator (please, please, please)
4. Better MPG or more fuel to go further distances (just when I am getting into my ride it's time to stop for fuel)
5. Is there a better type of plastic to use that is not so fragile?

What a waste!!!!!

Honda should make standard a belly pan, it is so inexpensive and yet so important. Floorboards with heel-toe shifters are another big plus that should be standard (they save your left shoe). Fork braces should be standard, since it is a safety of stability item. For the models with the GPS, there should be some way to upgrade the instrument panel to receive the tire pressure monitoring system.

I own a 2004 goldwing which has been an excellent motorcycle, even at 43000 miles.I've never had the front end wobble,even with worn out tires. I have used Dunlop tires since new.It handles so well with the newest Elite 3s.I think some of these people should check the adjustment of their steering bearings.
If anything I would like changed on a goldwing would be,to make it easier to get to the air filter and to change to hydraulic valve lifters.Other than that I would like to see the goldwing stay as it is so the owners can customize the bike as they want.

I took the time to read though all the posts before adding mine. I live in Australia. Remember, addittions mean adding weight & cost, so to prioritise what comes as standard and then leave the rest to individual taste. I'll start be saying 1500SE type standard equipment, eg. CB, Rear spoiler, Passenger adjustable foot rests. Why Honda devolved when creating the 1800 eludes me!

1. Ipod interface ultilising current screen to show playlists ETC. Passenger isolated Ipod connector, (in rear glove box for instance) so passenger can listen to alternate music source, indepandant to rider, through headset of course with independant volume control.

2. Larger top box,so I can comfortabley get two full face helmets in as per the GL1500, it's just too much of a fight the way it is! Also option of deeper pannier lids to allow full face helmets to be carried in the sides, freeing up the top box, great if you like to carry a spare lid and still have your top box free as I did on my 1500 SE

3. Volt and amp meter as part of the LED diplay, very important, someone should be shot in the R & D department for not doing this.

4. Dual band comms unit, e.g. CB and UHF as CB is used less in other countries. Maybe an accessory that plugs and plays into existing system via a Y splitter for instance.

5. Electric windshield. while a good idea, will add weight and for the times you need to adjust it and the extra cost, I'd rather go without for more important things like STANDARD ABS! Not a luxury, a necesscity! Abd braced forks should be standard. (If indeed these fork braces do improve handling? would love to see some independant tests done on these.)

6. Locking mechanism on side stand as Harley's have, so you don't have to worry about your bike rolling off it's side stand, Have Harley a patent on this as it defies logic that ALL big cruisers, indeed, all bikes don't have this?

7. Footboards and heal toe shifter should be standard equipment on the king of the tourers. I would still like the option to to have normal pegs and gear shift, personaly I don't like floor boards and H & T shifters but can understand that others do.

8. Finally I have a 99SE and an 06 1800. The paint & Finish on the 1500 surpasses the paint job on the 1800! It's crap! marks easily and just doesn't seem to have the quality, depth and durabilty of the 1500! I'm disapointed in the paint job on the 1800. Hopefully the next geneation after 2011 will resolve this.

I ride a 1990 GL 1500 8 to 12hour a ride 4 about 5 yaer and when I sit on an 2007 1800 I cried the bike was to small I am 6'2' 280 pound please make BIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoa, let's back up. Before all the other bells and whistles, how about the basics. Like a handle for the trunk. Like a trunk light AND luggage rack like my $8200.00 1992 Kawasaki Voyager had.

Redesigned Gold Wing for 2010 wish list:
1) 6 speed or wider 5 speed (2500 rpm at 70 mph)-- with or without the increase in cc's
2) blue tooth intercom
3) lighted gear indicator on dash
4) all dash board controls lighted
5) larger (taller & wider) electric windshield
6) touch screen navigation system
7) slightly larger trunk and small driver and rider storage compartments (1-2 inches each dimension)

I recently purchased my 1st wing back in Oct. As I told the sales man I'm not sure what this thing is, but it's not a motorcycle, and I like it! I was amazed to find out that the king of tour bikes didn't have bluetooth technology. We still rely on 1970's CB technology for bike to bike comm! come on! we all own cell phones! And wow is this thing heavy!! reduce the weight or give us a hydrolic center stand. I've already spent at least $1500 on add on's for lighting, spoiler, ect that should be standard equip. And the Nav... come on what a Peace Of S****!

After the 1500 this bike is, as far as I am concerned, the best bike ever! Of course there are a few things you can wish for! If it’s not on it….. you can get it! (mostly at Wingstuff) The only thing I would like is a 2000 cc engine (just for bragging I guess). I think we should be realistic about this; we are MOTORCYCLE riders! (or not?)

2000 cc, tryk option, electric mirrors, with a helmet that matches the color of the bikes, already with the best head set already installed. Matching gold wing jackets. CB already on it. Oh don't forget the cigarette lighter. Taller optional windshield electric. fog lights already installed,

My 2010 wishlist would include:

1.2000CC motor with no rev or speed limiter coupled to a 6 speed gearbox. If I want to go 200 mph that's my biz and my bike. You allow it on the sport bikes, why not mine?

2.Honda to fix it's transmission problems that cause the gear to slip from 3rd back to 2nd or false neutral! Then refuse to honor their warranty.

3. More leg room for the driver and move the foot pegs forward with floorboards.

4.Make the seat adjustable to move back! everyone is not 5' 9". I hate sitting up against the tank.

5.New updated plastic design. Looks like an outdated whale. Less covers and show more of the mechanical beauty, as well as higher quality paint with imaginative designs and color schemes.

New Goldwing :

1.Tire pressure monitoring system is way overdue.
2. HID headlights and LED lighting all the way around. Turn signal lights should be located not only on the saddlebags but also on the trunk area.
3. Completely overhaul the Nav system. The existing one is TERRIBLE. It amazes me how Honda sells the best nav (on Acuras) and the worst nav (on goldwings). No town names, the zooming function is totally whacko. Highways on level 3 zoom suddenly just vanish when you zoom to level 2 and vice versa. It takes zooming in and out several times to accumulate the info you need for making decisions as to where you are and where you'd like to go. Driver should be able to turn the nav system on while in motion. Why is it any more dangerous to turn on the NAV than it is the radio?
3. Need either a 6th gear or a much higher speeded 5th gear. I have been driving GWs for 10 years and I still feel like I should shift up one more time at 70 mph.
4. Accurate speedometer. Usually 5% off.
5. Bluetooth phone, communication system needed.
6.Need top-loading saddlebags. Should be like Harley's where you open them and load them from the top.
7. More trunk space. Perhaps have connecting saddlebags, a space that tunnels through from the left to the right saddlebags. Perhaps offer a GW option that does not have a rear seat , but instead has an optional larger trunk.
8. Easier , less complicated panel and piece removal of the body parts.
9. I wish they would make the exhaust sound exactly like the Rune does. Sounds incredible at standstill but isn't annoying at high speeds. In fact, tune it just like the Rune. We really don't need a bigger engine, just better tuning.
10. Eliminate the air vents. They seem totally non-functional as is. The only thing that seems to work is the air vent in the windshield (keep that).
11. Lower seat height. Only one more inch lower would be perfect.
12. Don't care for an automatic

I agree with a lot of the ideas I have read but, what I would really like to see improved is a six speed transmission, (true overdrive). I would also like to see gps as standard, and lighting, Fog lights, and side lights are safety issues, and should definately be standard. Better suspension. "The well known wobble" There has been after market suspenssion kits out there for awhile now, and I would like to see them incorporated in production.

How about all these wonderful ideas everyone is posting, but on the 1500 lines. I think the 1500 body lines and storage is better

I've ridden bikes my entire life but am anxiously waiting to pick up my first new Wing if spring ever arrives (Alberta,Canada).. I agree with a lot of the comments on this blog about what would be "nice to have" improvements on the 2010 Wing, but "O my God people", this ride is pure luxury overall compared to the sport bikes & crotch rockets I've ridden most of my life. If Honda added all the extra luxuries everyone wants it would weigh 1200 lbs & cost TWICE as much. As for the comments about making all the "toys" optional, try buying a Wing in Canada. The only option we have is whether we want an airbag or not...
#1 focus needs to be safety. This is a heavy bike that feels like you want to drive it like a sport bike, but the suspension is inadequate for that kind of riding & could easily get you in trouble. Also, more auxilliary lighting front & back & standard fog lights for visibility.
Regarding the "toys" however, that I had to pay big bucks for, my big grudge & it may seem minor to some but it has to do with the crappy NAV system Honda has put on the Wing. They build Acuras, but go on the cheap with their 20+K "luxury" bikes. I want to take a 2 week trip thru the US this summer. There are excellent websites out there where you can plan your entire trip, picking out all the best "twisties" & scenic routes & entering all the GPS waypoints. It was a good winter project planning out my dream bike trip this summer. NOW I find out I have no way of entering that trip into my NAV on my Wing without sitting on it & manually entering every waypoint. That is totally ridiculous!! You don't need to make the GPS removable from the bike, just give it a port that you can plug a USB thumb drive into it & download your data. Seems like a NO BRAINER to me. I'll be buying another windshield mount for my cheap handheld Garmin GPS which has far more capability than the Honda version costing 3X more.

For 2010 I'd like to see the Styling stay the same, BUT, in addition to Easy Adjust Floorboards, for Pilot and Co-Pilot, I'd like to see 2000cc Engine, 6 Spd Tranny (Maybe an Auto-Stick), and 'Electronic' 'Paddle Shift' on the Handle Bars.

And, Possibly the Satellite Radio 'Traffic & Weather' Integrated into the GPS, for 'On The Fly' Navigational Changes (Satellite Radio would all but do away with the need for that over priced CD Player).

Honda Has the sweetest Paddle Shift on their new Autos, don't see as it would be too difficult to integrate it into the Goldwing...

BUT ABOVE ALL, Intercom and ALL Communication(s) Integrated BLUETOOTH!!!

What I would love to see in a goldwing is…

1. lower seat height, I am 5’7” but I have shorter legs a 29 inseam and I hate having the stop and be standing on my tip toes and be always in fear of dropping it over due to this.
2. Xenon HID head lights with killer bright highbeam xenon lights for out in the country.
3. Suspension, hell it hard why does it have to be so hard? Roads are nice and smooth a softer suspension would be very nice, maybe adjustable between soft and firm might be the way to go.
4. A 6th gear would be nice at 120 Km/H I feel like shifting up one more gear…or make 4th gear into the 5th gear, and turn the 5th into a true 6th gear so the RPM drop. The bike has lots of power so why have the engine rev’ing so high…
5. gear indicator so you know what gear your in.
6. LED light all around, turn, brake lights, dash instrument back lighting LED as well
7. center stand to be hydraulic, hell for the cost of this bike why should I have to fight with getting it onto the center stand.
8. And my last big beef…the cost of this bike is WHY TO MUCH! You can buy a good new car for the same or less…often less then this bike. Get real and stop being so greedy.

And last of all...a better paint finish...come on at this price and the finish is so low end...does not look good... I guess I could add a few other things...but what I listed I think are a darn good start.

I just purchased an '08 Wing today after taking the '09 ABS version for a test ride. I haven't ridden the '08 yet but don't expect much difference.
My personal opinion is that safety features need to be standard equipment. If the steering head bearings, suspension and forks are weak then better quality units should be standard. ABS is a must in my opinion. Everything else should be left up to the individual owners tastes and wallet.

I've just come back from the dealer and it seems that starting in 0'09 in Canada ABS is standard on all models. That's dealer speak for "We don't sell the non-abs models anymore". In other words we only have 2 models to choose from, ABS with and without airbag.

Better steering head bearings.
Headlights should be HID.
All other lights should be LEDs.
Use the available real estate at the 8-o'clock position on the tach for an LCD volt meter.
Increase fuel range by addinging a six-speed manual transmission and larger fuel tank.
USB interface to GPS for uploading waypoints.
Bluetooth for use with cell phones.
Adapter cable to connect the CD port in the wiring harness with a Zune and Ipod. Incorporate the video output of a Zune into the display on the motorcycle.
